DoorDash charges restaurants 15% (Basic), 25% (Plus), or 30% (Premier) of the subtotal on delivery orders, and 6% on pickup across all three plans. That's straight from DoorDash's merchant pricing page, checked in September 2026. There's no monthly fee, no contract, and you can switch plans in the Merchant Portal.
The rate is the easy part. The harder question is which plan actually leaves you more money, and that depends on the fine print and on how much extra volume each tier really brings. This page goes plan by plan, then runs the numbers. What are DoorDash's commission rates for each plan?

Per DoorDash's published pricing as of September 2026:
| Plan | Delivery commission | Pickup commission | Intro offer | Built for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 15% | 6% | 0% for 7 days | The lowest rate, local reach |
| Plus | 25% | 6% | 0% for 30 days | More reach; DoorDash labels it most popular |
| Premier | 30% | 6% | 0% for 30 days | Maximum reach, with DoorDash-managed extras |
Commission is a percentage of each order's subtotal, not a flat rate. DoorDash's FAQ says that percentage is the whole charge on a marketplace order.
Always confirm current rates with DoorDash before you sign up. They change, and your merchant agreement is what counts.
What does each DoorDash plan include?
Every step up the ladder buys reach, not a lower rate. Here's what DoorDash lists for each tier.
Basic: 15% delivery, 6% pickup
- Your store listed to customers nearby on DoorDash
- Access to DoorDash's Online Ordering product at no additional cost
- A free professional menu photoshoot
- DoorDash suggests Basic for restaurants new to delivery that want to get operations right before scaling
What Basic doesn't include is the part that matters for volume: DashPass members and the wider delivery radius. DoorDash's FAQ describes Basic as the plan for local exposure.
Plus: 25% delivery, 6% pickup
Everything in Basic, plus:
- A 30-day free trial
- Reach customers farther away
- A lower customer delivery fee (DoorDash's footnote: for non-DashPass orders only)
- Access to DashPass members, who DoorDash says order twice as often and spend 2.5 times more than non-members
DoorDash says most new merchants start on Plus.
Premier: 30% delivery, 6% pickup
Everything in Plus, and:
- The widest delivery range
- A $200 credit for food and styling to go with the free photoshoot
- A complimentary Premier Sponsored Listing in-app ad, managed by DoorDash (subject to eligibility)
- An order guarantee: accept at least 20 orders a month or DoorDash refunds that month's commission
What's in the fine print?
The footnotes on DoorDash's pricing page are where the real rules live:
- Plan size limit. The partnership plans are available to restaurants with 75 or fewer locations in the US.
- The 6% pickup rate has a condition. It applies to US partners who comply with DoorDash's Merchant Terms of Service, "including having DoorDash Pickup menu prices match in-store prices." If you mark up your pickup menu, check your terms.
- The lower customer delivery fee on Plus and Premier applies to non-DashPass orders only.
- The Premier order guarantee only covers a location's first 6 months on Premier, and you qualify only if you cancel fewer than 5 orders that month and keep your store open on DoorDash for 90% of the hours you've set in the Merchant Portal.
- The $200 Premier credit is paid after you complete the complimentary photoshoot (or upload 10 approved photos if you're outside the photoshoot area). Merchants who already received a $300 menu-photo incentive aren't eligible.
- Switching plans takes up to five business days, and DoorDash recommends running a plan for two to three weeks first.
What does the commission cover, and what costs extra?
DoorDash says the commission covers your listing and marketing on DoorDash, Dasher logistics, customer support, and credit card processing. It also says there are no activation fees, subscription fees, software fees, or cancellation fees.
What can cost extra, all optional per DoorDash:
- DoorDash Tablet: $6 per week after your trial
- Promotions and Sponsored Listings: paid marketing tools on top of your plan
DoorDash also notes you're allowed to set different prices for delivery orders, and says many restaurants do. Raising delivery-menu prices is one way owners absorb commission, though it makes your food look pricier to app shoppers.
What does a DoorDash order cost you on each plan?
Start with one order. A $30 subtotal:
| Basic (15%) | Plus (25%) | Premier (30%) | Pickup, any plan (6%) | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Commission | $4.50 | $7.50 | $9.00 | $1.80 |
| You receive | $25.50 | $22.50 | $21.00 | $28.20 |
Now a month. Say you do 300 delivery orders and 100 pickup orders at a $30 average. That's $9,000 in delivery subtotal and $3,000 in pickup:
| Basic | Plus | Premier | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Delivery commission | $1,350 | $2,250 | $2,700 |
| Pickup commission (6%) | $180 | $180 | $180 |
| Monthly commission | $1,530 | $2,430 | $2,880 |
| Per year | $18,360 | $29,160 | $34,560 |

Notice what pickup does: those 100 pickup orders cost $180 in commission. The same 100 orders as Basic delivery would cost $450. Pushing pickup is one of the cheapest levers you have. More tactics in How to Reduce Delivery App Fees.

How much more do you need to sell on Plus or Premier to break even?
This is the question DoorDash's plan cards don't answer. A higher tier only pays off if it brings enough extra orders to cover the higher rate on every order, including the ones you'd have gotten anyway.
A simple way to check: look at what's left of each sales dollar after commission and food cost. Assume a 30% food cost:
| Plan | Left per $1 of delivery sales | Delivery sales needed to match Basic's $9,000 | Sales lift needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic (15%) | $0.55 | $9,000 | none |
| Plus (25%) | $0.45 | $11,000 | about 22% |
| Premier (30%) | $0.40 | $12,375 | about 38% |
On Basic, $9,000 of delivery leaves $4,950 after commission and food. To keep that same $4,950 on Plus, you need $11,000 in delivery sales. On Premier, $12,375. Packaging and labor on the extra orders push the real threshold higher still.
So the decision rule is concrete: upgrade to Plus only if you expect it to grow delivery sales by more than roughly a fifth. Upgrade to Premier only if you expect more than roughly a third. If you can't tell, test it. DoorDash lets you switch any time, and the switch takes up to five business days.
Which DoorDash plan should you choose?

Basic fits when most of your DoorDash orders come from people who already know you: regulars, neighbors, people searching your name. They'll find you without the bigger radius, so you'd be paying 10–15 extra points for reach you don't need.
Plus fits when you're in a dense area where DashPass members make up a big share of orders and the wider radius reaches neighborhoods that can't walk to you. DoorDash's claim that DashPass members order twice as often is the whole case for Plus; test whether it holds for your restaurant.
Premier fits when you're new, nobody knows you yet, and you genuinely need DoorDash to find you customers. The included ad and the 20-order guarantee reduce the risk of a slow start. That's a real use case. Just put a date on the calendar to reassess, because the guarantee only runs for the first 6 months.
A useful habit on any plan: check your DoorDash analytics for how many orders come from searches for your restaurant's name. Those customers already chose you. Paying 25–30% on them is paying for discovery that already happened.
How does DoorDash's commission compare with direct ordering?
DoorDash itself offers a way around the marketplace commission. Per its Online Ordering page, orders placed on your own website, Google profile, or social media through DoorDash's Online Ordering product are commission-free. The only charge to you is a standard payment processing fee, and customers pay the delivery fee on delivery orders. It's available to restaurants with an active DoorDash store. DoorDash also sells a Commerce Platform bundle with a branded website and marketing tools at $99/month (Boost) or $249/month (Pro), per its published pricing.
That's a fair option if DoorDash already runs your kitchen tablet. The trade-off is that your direct channel still runs on DoorDash's platform.
Menuline is the independent version of that idea, disclosed plainly as our product. You get a website with commission-free ordering built in, on your own domain, for $29/month (Starter) or $99/month (Growth), both $1/month for the first 3 months, month-to-month. The restaurant pays 0% commission. Diners pay a 5% platform fee at checkout, and standard card processing applies to online payments, as it does anywhere.
Compare that with the monthly example above: $9,000 of delivery orders costs $1,350 to $2,700 a month in DoorDash commission depending on plan. Menuline's ordering is pickup only today, so it doesn't replace delivery. What it changes is the regulars who could pick up: every order they place on your own site costs a flat $29 or $99 a month from the restaurant's side instead of a 15% to 30% cut.
Most restaurants shouldn't quit DoorDash overnight. The practical play is to keep DoorDash for discovery and move repeat customers to your own ordering link. Start with the highest-intent spot you own: our guide to adding online ordering to Google shows how to make your own link the preferred option on your Google listing.
The bottom line
DoorDash's 2026 commission rates are 15%, 25%, and 30% on delivery for Basic, Plus, and Premier, and 6% on pickup for everyone, with no monthly fees. The rates are simple. The choice isn't: Plus needs about 22% more delivery sales than Basic to leave you the same margin at a 30% food cost, and Premier about 38% more.
