DoorDash Storefront Review 2026: Fees vs Marketplace

On the same $5,000 of orders, DoorDash's Plus plan takes $1,250 in commission. DoorDash Storefront, the commission-free ordering page DoorDash gives its merchants, costs about $215 in card processing. Same kitchen, same Dashers, one fifth of the cost.

That gap is why "DoorDash Storefront fees" is such a common search. It's also why the product deserves a careful look, because Storefront has a new name, a new set of paid packages, and one requirement that shapes everything else: you need a DoorDash store to use it.

Everything below comes from DoorDash's own merchant pages as of 2026: its pricing page, Commerce Platform page, Online Ordering page, and its commission explainer. Disclosure: Menuline also sells commission-free ordering, so we compete here. We've tried to be fair, including where DoorDash is the better deal.

What is DoorDash Storefront now?

Storefront still exists. It's just called Online Ordering now. From DoorDash's Commerce Platform FAQ: "DoorDash Storefront is now Online Ordering, part of DoorDash Commerce Platform." DoorDash says every existing Storefront merchant "automatically transitioned to Online Ordering at no additional cost."

What it does is unchanged in spirit. You put an ordering link on your website, Google Business Profile, or social pages. Customers order directly from you, in your colors. Orders land in your POS. Dashers handle delivery. DoorDash says it works with 40+ POS and middleware systems, including Toast and Square.

Commerce Platform is the new wrapper around it. It adds paid tools on top of Online Ordering: a branded website, a branded mobile app, automated email, cross-channel loyalty, review management, and email and text marketing.

How much does DoorDash Storefront cost?

The base product costs nothing per month. DoorDash's Online Ordering FAQ says it "has no monthly fees or commission-based fees" and "the only charge is payment processing fees." Customers pay delivery fees on delivery orders.

Here is the full price list as DoorDash publishes it:

Package Monthly fee Card processing per order What it adds
Online Ordering only $0 3.3% + $0.30 Commission-free ordering link, menu sync with Marketplace, Dasher delivery
Boost $99/mo 2.9% + $0.30 Branded website, automated email marketing, website pop-up, loyalty and gift card integrations
Pro $249/mo 2.9% + $0.30 Everything in Boost, plus branded mobile app, cross-channel loyalty, guest experience management, email and text marketing

Monthly fees per DoorDash's Commerce Platform page; processing rates per DoorDash's commission explainer, which says Online Ordering carries "a standard payment processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per order with Boost and Pro packages, and 3.3% + $0.30 per order with Starter." Confirm current rates with DoorDash.

All packages, per DoorDash: 0% commission, customers pay delivery fees, "no cancellation penalties, no surprise fees," Dasher delivery, live order tracking, and customer support for deliveries. Premier Marketplace partners are offered 35% off the Pro package, subject to eligibility.

Is Boost worth $99 a month?

Not for the processing discount alone. Boost lowers processing from 3.3% to 2.9%, a saving of 0.4% of sales. To earn back $99 that way, you'd need $24,750 a month in Online Ordering sales.

Boost's lower processing rate only pays for its $99 monthly fee above $24,750 a month in direct online sales

Below that volume, buy Boost for what it adds (a branded website and automated email), not for the rate. At $5,000 a month and a $30 average ticket, Online Ordering alone costs about $215. Boost costs about $294.

DoorDash Storefront vs Marketplace: what's the real difference?

This is the comparison most owners are actually making. Here is the same $5,000 a month in orders, at a $30 average ticket (167 orders), across DoorDash's channels:

What DoorDash takes on $5,000 of orders: $1,250 on Marketplace Plus delivery, $300 as Marketplace pickup, $215 through Online Ordering

Channel Rate, per DoorDash Cost on $5,000
Marketplace Premier, delivery 30% $1,500
Marketplace Plus, delivery 25% $1,250
Marketplace Basic, delivery 15% $750
Marketplace pickup (any plan) 6% $300
Online Ordering (Storefront) 3.3% + $0.30 processing $215

A few things the table doesn't show:

  • Marketplace includes processing. DoorDash's pricing FAQ says the Marketplace commission covers "credit card processing," with "no payment processing fee" on top.
  • Marketplace brings new customers. That's the argument DoorDash makes on its own pricing page, and it's fair. Commission is what you pay for discovery. Online Ordering only works on customers who already know your name.
  • The 6% pickup rate has a condition. DoorDash's footnote says it applies to partners who comply with its terms, "including having DoorDash Pickup menu prices match in-store prices."
  • Delivery fees move to the customer. On Online Ordering, "customers cover delivery," per DoorDash. That's normal for direct ordering, and it's the same on most platforms.

The practical playbook many owners land on: let Marketplace find new customers, then move repeat customers to your own ordering link. That's the idea behind Commerce Platform, and it's the same idea behind every direct-ordering product, ours included.

How do you set up DoorDash Storefront?

If you already sell on DoorDash, setup is quick. Per DoorDash's Online Ordering page as of 2026:

  1. Activate it in the Merchant Portal. DoorDash says existing merchants "can activate Online Ordering in minutes," and most are "live and taking direct online sales in less than 24 hours."
  2. Share the link everywhere. Put it on your website, your Google Business Profile through Google Food Ordering, your social profiles, and QR codes on menus, bags, and direct mail.
  3. Check your POS flow. Orders land in the same POS as your Marketplace orders, so do one test order before you promote the link.
  4. Decide on packages later. You can start on Online Ordering alone and add Boost or Pro once you know your direct volume.

No website yet? DoorDash's page says, "We can build you one." On the Commerce Platform page, the branded website is listed in the Boost package at $99 a month.

What are the catches?

Storefront is a genuinely good deal. It also comes with conditions worth understanding before you print the QR code.

  1. You need a DoorDash store. DoorDash's FAQ: Online Ordering "is available to restaurants with an active DoorDash store." It "comes standard with all DoorDash Marketplace plans." If you ever leave Marketplace, check with DoorDash what happens to your ordering link, website, and app.
  2. Your menu is DoorDash's menu. "Your Marketplace menu syncs over automatically," which is convenient. It also means your direct menu and Marketplace menu share one system. If you price delivery-app items higher to cover commission, confirm how that interacts with your direct prices.
  3. The website and app aren't free. The branded website starts with Boost at $99 a month. The branded app, cross-channel loyalty, and text marketing need Pro at $249 a month.
  4. Setup time varies. Existing merchants can switch on Online Ordering from the Merchant Portal in minutes, per DoorDash. The full Commerce Platform onboarding "takes three weeks," and app launches depend on Apple's approval timeline.
  5. It's DoorDash's checkout. DoorDash calls this a strength: "a checkout customers already know and trust," with saved cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo, and PayPal. It's also a reminder that your direct channel runs on your largest delivery partner's technology.

None of these are dealbreakers. They're the terms of a free product from a company whose core business is the Marketplace.

When is DoorDash Storefront the right choice?

Storefront wins outright if:

  • You're already on DoorDash and want a commission-free link live today.
  • You need delivery but have no drivers. Dashers deliver Online Ordering orders, and customers pay the delivery fee. That's hard to replicate on your own.
  • You want one menu and one tablet for Marketplace and direct orders.
  • Budget is close to zero. $0 a month plus processing is the lowest-cost commission-free ordering we know of for DoorDash merchants.

If that's you, turn it on. There's no reason to pay 25% on a regular's order when the same order through your own link costs about 4.3% (3.3% plus $0.30 on a $30 ticket).

When does an independent platform make more sense?

An independent platform makes more sense when you want your direct channel to stand on its own: a website that ranks, an app, and a customer list that don't depend on keeping a DoorDash store.

That's what Menuline does. Starter is $29/month and includes an SEO website, commission-free pickup ordering, automated SEO pages, and loyalty and rewards. Growth is $99/month and adds a branded iOS and Android app and AI-powered email marketing. Both plans are $1/month for the first 3 months, month-to-month, with 0% commission. Menuline handles setup and migration with a dedicated specialist.

The honest tradeoffs, in both directions:

DoorDash Online Ordering Menuline
Monthly fee $0 (Boost $99, Pro $249) $29 or $99
Commission 0% 0%
Restaurant pays per order 3.3% + $0.30 processing (2.9% with a package) No per-order platform fee
Diner pays Delivery fees (the only diner fee its pages mention) 5% platform fee, plus any delivery fee you set
Delivery Dashers None (pickup only)
Branded website Boost and up Every plan
Branded app Pro ($249) Growth ($99)
Text marketing Pro No, email only
Requires a DoorDash store Yes No

DoorDash figures per its merchant pages as of 2026. Card processing applies to direct card orders on any platform, so ask each vendor for its rate in writing, us included.

Two points in DoorDash's favor stand out: Dasher delivery, and its merchant pages mention only delivery fees on the diner's side. Menuline adds a 5% fee at the diner's checkout. Where Menuline wins is independence and what the website and app cost: a branded site on every plan and a branded app at $99 instead of $249.

Many restaurants run both: Marketplace for discovery, and their own site for regulars. If you're weighing the bigger picture, see DoorDash fees for restaurants and the best DoorDash alternatives. If ChowNow is also on your list, our ChowNow pricing breakdown does the same math.

How do you decide?

  1. Pull your last month of DoorDash statements. Split orders into new customers and repeat customers if you can.
  2. Price your repeat orders both ways. Use the channel table above, or plug your own volume into the free DoorDash fees calculator. Most of the savings live in repeat orders moved off Marketplace.
  3. Decide who delivers. No drivers means Dashers, which points to Storefront or a platform with courier dispatch.
  4. Decide what you want to own. If the website, app, and customer list need to outlast any one vendor, look at independent platforms.
  5. Check your starting point. The free Menuline AI grader scores your website, Google presence, and ordering setup in about a minute. Direct ordering only pays off if customers can find your link.

The bottom line

DoorDash Storefront is now Online Ordering, part of DoorDash Commerce Platform. It's commission-free with no monthly fee. Restaurants pay 3.3% + $0.30 per order in card processing (2.9% + $0.30 with the $99 Boost or $249 Pro packages), and customers pay delivery fees. On $5,000 of orders, that's about $215 versus $1,250 on Marketplace Plus. The catch is that it requires an active DoorDash store and the website, app, and text tools cost extra. If you're on DoorDash and need Dashers, turn it on. If you want a direct channel that stands on its own, Menuline runs $29 to $99 a month with 0% commission, with a 5% fee paid by diners at checkout.

Frequently asked questions

What happened to DoorDash Storefront?

DoorDash renamed it. Per DoorDash's Commerce Platform FAQ as of 2026, 'DoorDash Storefront is now Online Ordering, part of DoorDash Commerce Platform,' and all existing Storefront merchants were moved to Online Ordering at no additional cost.

How much does DoorDash Storefront cost?

Online Ordering (formerly Storefront) has no monthly fee and no commission, per DoorDash's merchant pages as of 2026. Restaurants pay card processing: 3.3% + $0.30 per order without a package, or 2.9% + $0.30 with the Boost ($99/month) or Pro ($249/month) packages. Customers pay delivery fees.

What is the difference between DoorDash Storefront and Marketplace?

Marketplace orders happen in the DoorDash app and carry a 15%, 25%, or 30% delivery commission (6% for pickup), with no separate processing fee. Online Ordering orders happen on your own website, Google profile, or social links, carry 0% commission, and you pay standard card processing instead.

Do I need to be on DoorDash Marketplace to use Storefront?

Yes. DoorDash's Online Ordering FAQ says it 'is available to restaurants with an active DoorDash store.' It comes standard with every Marketplace plan and is activated from the Merchant Portal.

Is DoorDash Storefront better than an independent ordering platform?

It's hard to beat on price if you're already on DoorDash and want Dasher delivery. An independent platform like Menuline ($29 to $99/month, 0% commission, 5% fee paid by diners) makes more sense if you want a website, app, and customer list that don't depend on a DoorDash store.
